Cannot Remove Transit Card - Stuck “In Transit”

I want to remove a transit card from my watch, but my watch claims that a trip from over 6 months ago has put my card into a “Card In Transit” status, so I can’t.

This is a valid use case because station managers of various transit systems may let you exit without tapping your phone or watch if their system is experiencing a problem. This is also valid because of the rare case that a transaction may log on the transit agency’s system but not Apple’s system. For me, the data is out of sync, indicating to me that Apple duplicates the data in their own system.

I’m also unable to give the card a nickname (a frequently requested feature), so there is no way for me to label the card as invalid. All I can do is reposition the cards in my wallet in order to remember which card is invalid. I had the card invalidated by the transit agency a while back. Is there any way to force remove the card or force refresh the data backing the card?
