What does this DO? Settings—General—iPhone storage—Music—All Songs [slide left] DELETE

Settings—General—iPhone storage—Music—All Songs [slide left] DELETE

This is a promising but ambiguous and scary option. What exactly does it DO?

My phone is backed up to my Mac. If I follow this sequence to DELETE, I understand it deletes all music from the iPhone. BUT, if I then sync the phone to my Mac, will this

a) restore all music from my Mac to the iPhone

OR,

b) since I requested deleting all music, will the sync then delete all music from my Mac as well? (YIKES!)

If the sync does restore all music, will that correctly restore all artwork and playlists as well?

THANK YOU!

Hi there KevinKillion,

If these songs are songs that were previously synced from your Mac, then deleting all songs will delete these songs from your iPhone but not from the music library on your Mac.

If all these songs are in the music library of your Mac, you can sync them back onto your iPhone using these steps: Sync music between your Mac and iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you are using Apple Music, this would only remove the music that you downloaded for offline listening but all this music would remain in your library on all your devices.

We hope that helps!
