Apple Watch doesn’t detect standing

I’ve done everything suggested on previous forums. My watch doesn’t detect me standing. I can only get it to detect if I run around and wave my arms around like a crazy person for 10+ minutes. This used to work easily but now it does not. I have updated my iPhone 13 and Apple Watch Series 5 to the latest OSs, checked wrist detection, turned off and on fitness tracking, ensured wheelchair was set to off etc. I can use it for regular fitness tracking but super frustrating not being able to track standing or close my rings.

Hi Granny_Smith1,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand your Apple Watch isn't recognizing when you stand. We're happy to help. It sounds like you've already taken some great steps to resolve this on your own. We have a few more steps to try and test if this behavior continues:

  1. Restart your Apple Watch: Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support
  2. Restart your iPhone: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
  3. Unpair and pair again: Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support
  4. Make sure no steps from this link have been missed: Get the most accurate measurements using your Apple Watch

Thanks.
