Apple Remote on Watch will not connect to Apple Music on Macbook Pro M1 Monterey

I am trying to use my apple watch to connect to my Apple music on my macbook pro. However everytime I open the remote app and choose add device I am presented with a 4 digit code.

I go to apple music and can see the watch and when I click on it I am asked to enter the password. I enter the password correctly however - the music app says that the password is incorrect.

I have made sure both the watch and macbook are on the same mobile network.

Can you advise how I can use my watch to control my music on my macbook - as the music app just keeps saying the code is wrong even though it is the code that is displayed on my watch when I try to add the music device.

Thanks

Apple Watch Series 7, watchOS 9

Hey GaryNDM,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're on the right track but some of the steps you mentioned might be a bit different. Make sure you are using the steps below which are from Use Apple Watch to control music on a Mac or PC - Apple Support.

"Add a music library

  1. Open the Remote app  on your Apple Watch.
  2. Tap Add Device.
    • If you’re using the Music app on a Mac with macOS 10.15 or later: Open Apple Music and select your device from the list of devices shown with your library.
    • If you’re using iTunes on your Mac or PC: Click the Remote button near the top left of the iTunes window.

3. Enter the 4-digit code displayed on your Apple Watch."

If you're taking those steps and this loop continues, it may be best to reach out to Apple Support for a closer look at this issue.

Best of luck.
