Problem with year view on shared iCloud library

I had the same problem after going through my entire library and moving most of it to a shared library. I found a solution, albeit somewhat time consuming.

• For Mac, you need to close Photos, Command-Option open Photos and choose repair library. And then wait until it is done. Takes a long time for a large library (60,000+ photos and 1,200+ videos in my case).
• For iOS/iPad OS you need to go into settings and turn off iCloud Photo sync. Then elect to remove the optimized photos from the device when prompted. Wait a few seconds and then turn on iCloud Photo sync again. And then wait. Again, takes some time

In both cases, I believe I also had to quit the photos app when I was done, but then when I came back, the missing years in the year view were filled in again. I believe I may also have quit and restarted Photos a couple of times during the process in both cases.

I am seeing this too on my iPhone. For one year, 1967, I have only four photos in my library, none of them are favorites, and none of them is showing people, so Photos may not have picked one of them as a key photo.

All four photos are in the Shared Library.

Four this year there is a black gap in the list of the years for "Both Libraries", for the Shared Library a keyframe is shown, for the personal library the year is omitted. To fix this, I moved the key photo for 1967 back into the personal library, then duplicated it and shared the duplicate. Now the black gap for 1967 was gone in the year view.

Just spotted similar thing. Years have blank spaces on ‘Both’ where I know there are photos and on Months some are missing their ‘header’. Both Mac Ventura and iPadOS look same. Viewing ‘Personal’ or ‘Shared’ seems to be OK. For example I have 2020 photos in Shared, displays OK in Years. I have no 2020 photos in Personal, displays OK, but when displaying Both I get a blank space where 2020 should be on Years. I have July 2020 photos in Shared, displays July 2020 header in Months, but when displaying Both there is no July 2020 header, however it does display the actual July photos.

Unfortunately, a week later, the problem returned. The only thing that happened during this time was that some additional photos were added to the shared library via my iPhones camera. So my fix that I documented was only temporary, unfortunately. Oddly, it seems to differ between devices as to which years are missing in the Year view when viewing both libraries.

Hope Apple is aware of this problem and addresses it in an upcoming release of iOS/iPad OS/Mac OS…

I'm having the same problem. The years view on my iPhone 12 Pro / IOS 16.3, and Intel MacBook Pro MacOS 13.2 are missing a bunch of years (blank non-clickable card)...

What is weird, is that I was the shared library initiator and my wife doesn't have the problem on her ends with the same OS / Hardware version.

I've tried to rebuild on MacOS, it worked for 1 day... I've also tried to restore my iPhone from a backup, and same thing, it's worked for 1 day.

I'm doing the exact same thing - merging my library and my wifes library under a shared cloud. View library via 'Months' is OK, but selecting the 'Years' filter shows multiple years as being a blank gap.

This affects my iPhone (os 16.2) and MacOS 13.0.1

Same problem with me on 5 devices with a shared library. Year view is missing on many years. Restarting the device doesn’t help. Leaving it overnight doesn’t help. Monthly and Daily and All Photos is fine.

Apple seriously, this is a bug that need to be fixed... I have updated to the last IOS 16.3.1 and macOS 13.2.1 and the problem is still there.

On macOS, in the photo apps... (only some years are shown), I've repaired it and worked fine, but the next day the problem reappear again.

I have the same issue, as described, across iPhone and MacOS 13.1. Blanks appear where the years should be, but the photos are still there if you scroll through the months.
