how do i make icons smaller? in ios 15 i had 6 icons in the dock, now i only have 4

iPhone 12, iOS 16

On any non modified versions of iOS you can only have 4 icons in the dock. Jailbroken devices had the option to modify the home screen, but I'd highly recommend not to do that as the device's security would be weakened.

thank you for your answer.

so, i'll just have to live with this clunky interface. it seems amazing to me that we can't create a sleeker design after all these years when it IS possible to make the icons BIGGER for sight-impaired users and it is possible to reduce the size of the lettering.
