Streaming Disney+ and Amazon Prime with iOS16 and 1st Gen AppleTV

Ever since I updated my iPhone11 to iOS 16, I can no longer stream Disney+ or Amazon Prime to my first generation Apple TV (AirPlay). It used to work with this device and continues to work with other household devices with iOS 15.x. Does anyone have any suggestions how to remedy this?

the error message for Disney+ is "Oh No Something went wrong playing..." for Amazon Prime Video the wait circle just keeps spinning until I cancel.

my first generation Apple TV

If your Apple TV is 3.9" (9.9 cm) and black, then it is at least 2nd generation.

If your Apple TV supports any form of AirPlay, then it is at least 2nd generation.

Disney+ says to support AirPlay from iPhone or iPad to Apple TV (3rd generation or later).

Amazon Prime Video used to allow AirPlay from iPhone or iPad to Apple TV (2nd generation). Ask Amazon if that still holds. Prime Video is natively available on Apple TV (3rd generation or later).

Content providers can set (and change) the system requirements for AirPlay.

If any content (even the iPhone home screen) will stream using AirPlay, then AirPlay itself is working fine. The rest is up to the content providers and their apps.

Mirroring Safari (or similar) works on all devices.

If AirPlay is working for some content, then AirPlay itself (the protocol) is working fine, and then the issue must be with the content or app. Please contact Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video about your found incompatibility, so that they can bring a fix.

that's embarrassing. You're right, it's a 3rd generation Apple TV. (It is just so old I was convinced there weren't any older generations). Anyways I still can't stream using those apps on a device with iOS16. Despite not updating the apps after updating the iOS. My devices with iOS 15.7 and those apps can still stream. Mirroring Safari (or similar) works on all devices.
