only getting audio when using Airplay.

not receiving video on airplay. I am only getting the audio and then receiving a stop icon in the play field

For the issue you're having with not seeing any video when using AirPlay, start with these steps: If screen mirroring or streaming isn't working on your AirPlay-compatible device - Apple Support


Try these steps first

After each step, see if you still need help. 

1. Make sure that your AirPlay-compatible devices are turned on and near each other.
2. Check that the devices are updated to the latest software and are on the same Wi-Fi network. 
3. Restart the devices that you want to use with AirPlay or screen mirroring.

If you're prompted to enter a password, you might have restrictions turned on, or you might need to adjust your AirPlay password settings.


If you're still having an issue, let us know more to help narrow this down:


  • Since menu options can vary, which device are you using to AirPlay with your Apple TV and which software version is installed on it?
  • Does this happen with all content you try to AirPlay or on within certain apps and certain content?
