iphone SE puts the Bose Earbuds randomly on max volume

My bluetooth earpieces randomly gets set to max volume by my Iphone, which is quite a nuisance when the notification about a new email blares in my ears. Using the "Change with Buttons" option on the "Sounds & Haptics" menu doesn't help. This problem doesn't exist with my Samsung S22 Ultra so I assume it's not a problem on the earpiece side.

Do you have any suggestions on how to not get scared to death and/or permanent hearing damage by my iphone? Thanks in advance!

Which app is in use when this issue occurs? If you reset your wireless earphones, does the issue remain? Is all software up to date, including app updates?

After observing the problem for a while I noticed that the volume gets set to maximum whenever a reconnection to bluetooth headphones occurs. E.g. if I walk out of reach with my phone while the headphones stay on my table, afterwards the phone reconnects with the headphone and the volume gets set to maximum

Any suggestions?

Hi Dustin,

thanks for your suggestion! Apps that I'm using frequently are Outlook, the phone app and Spotify. All of them are up to date, OS is at 16.1. But it looks to me as if it's not connected to the use of a specific app. It comes and goes randomly and I wasn't able to reproduce or trigger the event by now.

I have reset the connection of the headphones yesterday, but unfortunately it happened again a few times since then.

What improved the experience a little bit was to activate the "Reduce Loud Sounds" Toggle and set it to the lowest possible (75 db). Still the ringer and headphone volume are getting set halfway to max volume on random occasions but it doesn't hurt my ears anymore.

Do you have any other ideas about it?
