earbud interuptions

I have never had any earbuds have gaps or interruptions in playback. Every few seconds or minutes, I get a quick interruption. I have an Iphone XR which has the latest updates and have reset the earbuds. If I can't get it figured out the earbuds will be returned to Costco and I will go with another brand. I have had bose and even some cheap apple knockoffs from China, that have never had this problem.
