Recording INTERNAL audio on iPad -- why is this still impossible???

I've read through many similar posts here on Discussions and to be honest none answer this problem in any coherent or convincing way.

For years now I've been trying to find a way to screen record with audio on my iPad. I'm talking about recording Google Meets meetings, Zoom meetings, MS Teams meetings, not useless youtube recordings (which in itself doesn't make sense as you can rewatch it or download it in anyway you want), radio or Spotify (you can always SoundHound a song and find it on YouTube and then it's your decision to what to do with it) or anything else.

I failed miserably and I've tried everything. I've searched hi and low on the internet, watched billion of the same useless tutorials about screen recording with a microphone (which ALWAYS give an external audio, and for some unknown reason to me those creators do not seem to grasp the difference between internal and external audio at all o_O and what's worse, not even Apple does, as their instructions always lead to recording through microphone). I've tried apps. Nothing works. So just in case you wanted to link a tutorial here, please double check the content as none of them allow to record internal audio!!!

So my question is this - WHY? Why doesn't it work? What's the deal? Has anything changed in iOs16 that I don't know about?? You can do it on any computer you like, but not iPad, so any argument about copyrights is bogus (I found and answer to this question somewhere in Discussions). I would love Apple to answer this once and for all and in a manner that's not dismissive, but direct, official and concrete.

Unless something has changed and it has become possible and there are people here who are in possesion of such knowledge :) If so, I beg you, share!

Thank you for the response.

As I mentioned, I've search and seen probably ALL tutorials on this, so "Record screen.." link you provided is as I mentioned not helpful, mostly because it doesn't say a word about the limits that derive from laws that don't allow to record internal audio. Had Apple posted this loud and clear then literally thousands of people wouldn't have struggled trying to overcome this problem for years now. I myself had to spend countless hours to reach this point and get a response that finally closes the subject.

So, this simple information on the Apple Help Page would end this problem once and for all (not that it solves the problem, it doesn't but at least it solves the problem of people wasting their time trying to understand why they constantly come across the same tutorials).

On a side note - the "laws" argument doesn't speak to me at all. Frankly it doesn't make sense. If you can screen record with external audio using microphone, how doesn't prevent me from recording without consent? It makes absolutely no sense. It's like you gave me two cars - and old Ford and a new Mercedes. Both will get me to my destination, but Mercedes is more comfortable, has more features and is safer. But you give me the keys only to the Ford. I just can't wrap my head around it. Especially since you can record ANYTHING on a regular desktop computer.

I know we live in the era of absurdity, and this is yet another example of it.

Hi szatanica,

For help with screen recording the steps below found in the article here have information: Record the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

"How to record your screen

  1. Go to Settings > Control Center, then tap the Add button  next to Screen Recording.
  2. Open Control Center on your iPhone, or on your iPad.
  3. Tap the gray Record button gray record icon, then wait for the three-second countown.
  4. Exit Control Center to record your screen.
  5. To stop recording, open Control Center, then tap the red Record button red record icon. Or tap the red status bar at the top of your screen and tap Stop.

Go to the Photos app and select your screen recording.

Some apps might not allow you to record audio or video. You can't record your screen and use screen mirroring at the same time."

As mentioned above some apps don't allow screen recording audio or video. For example on the Zoom support page here Zoom Recording Features it states "It is not possible to record locally from an iOS or Android device."

Moreover, DRM and certainly laws prevent recording of individuals without consent. You can check you local laws for more details.

You can reach out to the app developer of other third party apps for more information. The steps here will assist: How to contact an app developer
