How to stop iPhone from automatically blurring the background of photos?

Whenever I want to take a picture of something, my iPhone 13 Pro by default picks something to focus on, then blurs everything else. Is there a way to turn that off? I want to be able to have the entire photo be clear and in focus, not just one subject.

Hi RandomNPC,

Is your camera in Portrait mode? If so, this may be the reason the background is blurred. You can learn more about this here: Use Portrait mode on your iPhone.

With Portrait mode, the camera creates a depth-of-field effect. This lets you capture photos with a sharp focus on the subject and a blurred background.

Remove the Portrait mode effect

1. Select the photo that you want to change.
2. Tap Edit.
3. Tap Portrait at the top of your screen.
4. Tap Done.

If you change your mind and want to re-add the Portrait mode effect, go back to Edit and tap Portrait again.

If that's not the issue, the guidance in this article may be helpful: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working

Remove case, accessory, or film and test

1. Remove any case, accessory, or film that might block the camera or flash or that places a magnet near the camera.
2. Test the camera by trying to take a photo.
3. Test the LED flash:
1. Try the flashlight in Control Center on your iPhone or Control Center on your iPad. On an iPhone X or later or an iPad, swipe down from the upper-right corner of the screen. On an iPhone 8 or earlier, swipe up from the bottom edge of any screen.
2. Tap the Flashlight button Flashlight icon.

Cheers.
