Resetting time capsule to factory settings
We assume that the Time Capsule is operational and connected to your network.
Open AirPort Utility on your Mac (Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility)
Click on the Time Capsule to select it
Click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Disks tab at the top of the next window
Click Erase Disk
Select the Zero Out Data erase option for a secure erase
Click Erase
The operation will take some time.......on average about 6-8 hours
When the Erase has completed, click the Base Station menu at the top of the screen
Click on Restore Default Settings
That's it
Not sure why you want to reset the Time Capsule, but if you plan to sell or give away the product, you would also want to erase the data on the Time Capsule's hard drive.
But, if you reset to factory settings.......you won't be able to erase the hard drive.
