update to 12.6.1 has almost killed my macbok pro

I just updated my MacBook Pro 2020 from 12.6 to 12.6.1. Now my mac:

  • is extremely low - 30 seconds to respond to any click
  • is extremely low on internet - even in safe mode
  • has many app that don’t respond (google updated, App Store, …)

I already reset PRAM And SMC.

How can I fix the above issues?

Low or slow?

The update won't slow down the machine. Already installed incompatible optimizers, VPNs, and lack of space are all contributors to computer slowness.

To find out if you have something installed that could be slowing you down, Etrecheck will help you isolate background applications, and give a report you can post here. Follow the directions on this link:

Slow.

To clarify and provide a bit more context:

My work MacBook Pro has 16gb Ram and 256GB disk, with xxgb free. I also have an external Samsung X5 Portable 1TB SSD disk with all of my work documents in it.

Everything I had installed on my work MacBook Pro was just running fine before the upgrade.

I just did the upgrade as suggested by the system preferences app, following the instructions.

At the end of the upgrade, after reboot, I had this bad surprise.

The Mac was so slow that it was unusable. I could just force power off.

Then I did PRAM and SMC reset.

I could notice a small improvement, but still the Mac is extremely slow, and many app don’t start or, after start, they are not responding.
