when i downloaded the new download it has mess my computer up. the little ball now goes around and around are there anyway to fix this

Try your download from a —SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies
Go ahead and login to safeboot, and try again.
A normal reboot will exit the SafeBoot mode.
If you are stuck—
You can always force quit a shutdown by holding the power button/TouchID for ~6-10 sec.
Force Shut down your Mac.
Log out, sleep, wake, restart or shut down your Mac
Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support
