How can I stop syncing files on iCloud?

Hi everyone. I'm a totally new MacBook user.

I started this syncing files from MacBook to iPhone by mistake and I want to stop the operation (click on the x on "uploading" window does not work).

How can I do it?

Otherwise I see "out of space" under every folder/file stored on my Macbook (at the moment I'm not interested in buying more space).

I attach a photo.

Thanks!

The support document Set up iCloud Drive - Apple Support shows how to set up iCloud drive, and to turn it off is the reverse process.

  1. Go to Apple menu  > System Settings or Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Apple ID.
  2. Select iCloud.
  3. Sign in with your Apple ID, if you need to.
  4. Turn on iCloud Drive [or turn it off if it is already active]
