Help! Dropped moisturizer lotion in iPhone XR speakers. What's best to do?
A dollop of moisturizer (hand lotion) fell on my iPhone XR. Although it has a case, some of it got into the speaker holes on the left side.
I turned off the phone the moment this happened.
I also used a lint free cloth to clean the moisturizer out.
But those speaker holes are tiny, so it's hard to get into. I put the lint free cloth over a soft tooth pick to gently get the moisturizer out.
If I hold it under a magnifier glass it looks like the moisturizer is out, although the inside of the holes do look a touch whiter than then other side, so I'm not sure if it's 100% all gone.
I haven't turned my phone back on yet to avoid causing problems with the electricals.
What should I do? Should I leave it off for a while? If so how long? Is there any other way to clean it properly?
Because I haven't turned it back on, I haven't tested the speakers. Because the iPhone XR is water resistant I am hoping it's okay. But is there anything else I should be doing?
The Apple support guide says to use a slightly damp lint free cloth, but it also says not to get moisture in the openings, so I guess that means I shouldn't use a damp lint free cloth on the speaker holes (and just use a dry lint free cloth instead)?
I'd love to know any ideas and also how long to leave my phone off for.
Thanks!
