Software Update - Big Sur

I am attempting to update my mac air but it is saying that the APFS is not supported. I'm not sure what that is or how to fix it.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.14

APFS = APple File System. It is the newer files system Apple introduced with macOS High Sierra. It supersedes HFS+, and it is designed to work best with SSD type system drives.

Regardless, which exact model is your MacBook Air that is currently running macOS 10.14 (Mojave)? ... and is your goal to upgrade it to macOS Big Sur?
