iPhone 12 stuck updating from iCloud

I was switching from an iPhone 12 that was determined to be bad after two weeks of owning it to a new iPhone 12. Updating from iCloud and when I try to login with Apple ID it says it can’t reach the Apple server although my old phone is accessing the server perfectly fine. I can’t totally factory reset the new phone because it makes me sign in to Apple ID for that and it won’t allow me to do that as I stated above. Don’t have any way to hook up to a computer to totally factory restarted back to where it says hello. Any suggestions

Hi Ajsomma,

Are you able to connect the new iPhone to a different network to see if the issue persists? This will help isolate the issue further. However, if you do need to restore the device and have access to a computer you can use recovery mode to do so. You can learn how to do that here:

1. Make sure that your Mac is up to date. If you're using iTunes, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes
2. On a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, open Finder. On a Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier, or on a PC, open iTunes. If iTunes is already open, close it, then open it again. Find out which macOS your Mac is using.
3. Keep your device connected and wait until the recovery mode screen appears:
iPhone 8 or later, including iPhone SE (2nd generation): Press and quickly release the volume up button. Press and quickly release the volume down button. Then, press and hold the side button until you see the recovery mode screen.

You can read the resource in its full context here: If you can't update or restore your iPhone or iPod touch

We hope this helps.

Take care.
