Photo face analysis not working after import (0 photo analyzed)

Hi,

I started using Photos and analysis is not working. No photos analysed at all. Tried to leave the software running, not running, plugged in, everything.

Here is what the console says after launching Apple Photos (at 13:36) and closing (13:37). Trying to see if there's anything wrong/surprising there.

Photos App on Mac not analyzing faces So here's the problem, i have an external hard drive where i have imported all of my pictures from my iPhone (there's more than 9000 of them) in a dedicated photo library, so it's well organized with all of the metadata (location, camera info, date...) the only problem i have is that for some reason the facial recognition feature isn't working and it states that the app will begin analyzing the photos when i'm not using the app and Mac is connected to a power source, but the thing is that i've tried everything, leaving the mac connected to a power source and leaving the app open doesen't do anything, leaving the mac connected to a power source and closing the app doesen't do the trick either (after a while the HDD stops spinning, so it's definitely not doing a thing), i'm at a loss, because facial recognition is really helful. I've inserted a picture, it's in italian, but it basically states that mac will start analyzing the photos when i'im not using the app an the computer is connected to a power source

Mac photos not recognizing faces I have an issue with photos not starting to identify faces in photos that i added to my default library on my Mac SSD synced with icloud. Photos are a mix of iphone, and camera imports, about 300-400 photos i added to the library a week ago. Photos does not start to recognize any faces (not even adding unnamed circles to the photos). Have added a couple of names manually, no change. The process photoanalysisid seems to be sitting idle most time. When going to People and trying the "confirm additional photos" for somebody that is in the new added photos, i am getting "there don't appear to be any additional photos of...". Tried restart of photos and mac as well, but no change.... Any idea?

How to manually force photoanalysisd to work? I'm using Monterey 12.1 and Photos 7.0 My current library has been imported from an old iPhoto one. (My library is on an external SSD drive, always on, and the screensaver or screen backgrounds sees my pictures, I also checked with the 'files and ports' tab in the process window in activity monitor app that my library was found) Every time I click on 'personne' (French for 'people' of 'face', I get this message : '0 photo analysed, Photo will go on analysing...' (see screenshot attached in French) And I have to label all my faces manually. Is there a way to force photoanalysisd to detect faces? I read a lot of answers in forum and tried with systemctl enable, I also did a 'touch' on the folders that could trigger the automatic run, but nothing is working. Any idea? THX Gilles

Hello kjhsdkhdkasda,

We would like to see how we can help you with facial recognition in the Photos app. Depending on the number of Photos and when they were added, it will take some time for it beging the facial recognition. Check the status bar in the Photos app to see what it is working on: Check the status of your library in Photos for macOS
