get photos from water damaged laptop

my laptop hasn't turned on for a year or so due to water damage, have a new one now but I am curious if there's any way to recover photos from my old laptop before I ditch it

how do i recover my photos from iPhoto after an update deleted iPhoto(.... and all my photos with it)? ! hadn't update my MacBook air in many years. When i did iPhoto was removed along with all the photos in it. How do i recover the photos???

How to repair photos the MacBook will not import I have a lot of old photos on a memory stick. When I try to import to MacBook Photos library, it says some photos need to be repaired. How do I identify photos that need to be repaired? (8500 photos)?

Expensive, but http://www.drivesavers.com will make a best effort. They have recovered photos from an ocean ditched machine and a machine that was stuck in a house fire. If anyone can, they can.
