Takes a bit longer to get to the login screen, does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, font cache, etc., third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.


Login and test. Reboot  as normal and test.  Caches get rebuilt automatically.



This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

Apple actually changed the name of the notebook from Powerbook to MacBook in 2006.


If you are talking a 2010 MacBook, the touchpad, if that's what you are calling the scrollbar, may stop working if the battery starts to inflate. Some older batteries have substances that can cause the battery to inflate.


Replace at an authorized service provider, as that can damage other components of the computer.
