I upgraded to ventura, and now the speaker icon no longer allows me to adjust sound volume, but gives me a choice of which speakers to use.
I adjust the volume of my computer a whole lot more than picking which speakers I want to use. At the LEAST, add the volume slider to the same panel with output selections.

Just to add, to display the speaker icon in the Menu Bar, open System Settings > Control Center > Sound and choose "Always show in Menu Bar" or "Show When Active".

Thank you! My perception problem was due to the background color and the color of the slider being the same, so that it made the slider almost invisible. Thanks to your post I was able to locate it. I am very grateful.

The volume slider is still available under the Menu Bar Speaker Icon on my system:

p.s. If you want to the speaker icon in the Menu Bar you can do that as well.
Don't you get this with the Sound menu in the menu bar?
