My wife received a letter stating her Apple Card account has been closed. It also states she has a balance due. She has never applied for an Apple Card so how would she have an account? I’m trying to figure out if this is a scam but I’m not finding others talking about the same type of letter.

Probably a scam. If she never applied for an Apple Card, there’s no way for their to be an account.
By letter do you mean a physical paper letter, or just an email?
Does the letter address her by name? Or Simply as dear customer? In general, Apple and Goldman Sachs By the name they have on file for you.
It is a physical copy sent in the US mail. My wife called Apple Card support and it is a real letter. Someone did open a card in her name and max it out so now we get to deal with that junk. Thank you for responding.
