Airpods device prioritization

I have the AirPods Pro 2, but I had the same issue with the previous version. The AirPods are connected to my MacBook Pro and iPhone. When a call comes in, it usually stays with the mac even though I answer on the phone. If I'm on a call and an alert comes in (Email as an example) the AirPods connects back to the mac and drops from the call, back to the phone. How do I prioritize the iPhone over the mac? Is this a handoff/continuity setting? It's super frustrating.

Hi SWFLRealtor,

Are both your Mac and your iPhone running the latest available software? To check your iPhone for any updates go to Settings > General > Software Update. To confirm if there is any update to install for your Mac:

  1. Go to the Apple menu (  ) > System Preferences
  2. Tap on Software Update

Update macOS on Mac- Apple Support

Are all devices signed into the same Apple ID with Two-Factor authentication enabled?

Have your AirPods been reset since noticing this issue? If not, check out the steps here: How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro- Apple Support.

If this continues, you may want to reach out to Apple Support for further assistance. Depending on your region, you may be able to reach them here: Get Support.

Hope that helps!
