Scaling webpages on the iPad Mini

Hi folks,

I've had the iPad mini 6 from new. I've had it for about 2 months. Initially when I started using the iPad mini I was disappointed with how it rendered/displayed a lot of websites. I know that website designers make dynamic websites that adapt to screen size from mobiles through to standard computer screens but when I view websites on the mini its as if the size of the screen has been overlooked from website developers. It's like the iPad mini doesn't scale correctly. I didn't return the iPad as I was told that ios16 would fix the scaling issue on the current iPad mini but it hasn't. I love the form factor but the scaling issues limits what I can do with the thing. Is there anything I can do? I hope that makes sense.

Regards

Rob

Hi RobLF,

The iPad User Guide has some Safari info which may help:

Change the layout in Safari on iPad - Apple Support

In the Safari app , you can choose the layout that works best for you.
1. Go to Settings  > Safari, then scroll down to Tabs.
2. Select either Separate Tab Bar or Compact Tab Bar.
You can move between layouts as much as you want without losing the tabs you have open.
Note: If you’re using the Compact Tab Bar layout, the menus and layout may look different from what’s described in this guide.
The Safari section of the Settings app. Below tabs are the Separate Tab Bar and Compact Tab Bar options. Other options include Open New Tabs in Background and Close Tabs.

If this doesn't answer your question, these questions will help us understand your issue better:

Can you explain more of what you mean by things not scaling correctly?

Does this appear to be the case with every website or just a particular few?

How about when you connect to a different network?

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Take care.
