Fuji RAW files & Ventura
I have an XT3 and suddenly I cannot preview compressed Fuji RAW files, only uncompresded. I believe this should be fixed. There wasn't a problem with Monterey though.

In Ventura, Apple has indicated that the XT-3 supports uncompressed RAW format only. They are using the data that Fuji provided to Apple, so there is nothing for Apple to fix unless Fuji updates this issue.
See the Related article above for the Fuji XT-3² entry which points to 2. Uncompressed RAW format only on Ventura. This is identical to what was supported in macOS Monterey for this camera model.
That the preview file embedded in the RAW file is a jpeg, and many raw viewers use that as their thumbnail preview before actually decoding the raw. So seeing a preview/thumbnail does not mean the the raw data was decoded properly.
Where you indicate Apple is using the data provided by Fuji, do you mean Fuji told apple the X-T3 only supports uncompressed RAW? If so, how do you know Fuji only reported uncompressed RAW to Apple? I'm using an X-T4 with the same issue--Ventura only supports uncompressed RAW; however, the camera clearly supports both lossless and lossy compression. Only asking because I'm considering switching from Photos to Lightroom which supports Fuji's lossless compression, but if there is a chance Apple will provide the same functionality, I'd prefer to stay in the Apple ecosystem.
I am a fellow user and have no idea what communication existed between Apple and Fuji. Or which vendor determines that only uncompressed RAW is supported per a given camera model. I cannot comment on possible future Apple or Fuji planning as I have no access to that internal information.
I do know that Fuji provides Apple with data for each camera model and Apple eventually implements that data into the camera RAW support software.
With macOS Ventura I could see the RAW compressed previews, for sure.
Makes sense. Thanks for the quick reply!
Previews in RAW files are jpegs, no raw decoding required.
What do you mean exactly ?
Could you see the compressed RAWs before the upgrade ? I certainly could !!
