Change Apple Mail link default to plain link

By default when I paste a URL into an email it uses the 'preview' style link which contains the open graph info. I just want plain links by default, but can't see where to set that behavior and don't see any reference to this issue online?

In Sonoma there's a setting for this, which I turned off as soon as I saw it.

I understand the thought behind this behavior, but nevertheless I don't like it. Maybe I'm old, but it's extremely disturbing to not just see the url, and I guess that all of us in this thread feel the same way.

Actually they do read this because I posted a comment they didn't like and they removed and sent me an email telling me they removed it.

As Barney-15E noted, the people who remove posts that violate the terms of use are not software developers or engineers. They are people who have their hands full just making sure people obey the rules. They do not also have time to read posts for suggestions, figure out who to send them to and then do that. But, if you don't care whether your feedback gets read, neither do I.

And they are not deleting comments "they don't like". They are deleting comments that violate the terms of use.

Im trying to find out how to deactivate the mac mail behaviour of turning my url link into a massive icon that fills a big portion of the page within my email message. I don't want to have to go to the triangle and select 'convert to plain link' every time. It's so counter productive. Is there a way to turn it off permanently?

Is there another free alternative to Mac mail? I feel mac mail has been ruined. Like I use to be able to drag and drop an attachment from the email to my desktop, but now it turns it into a ".inetlock" file, so frustrating. so counterproductive.
