I started the migrate to another MAC but for the last 20 hours the old MAC is "discoverable as my mac" and the new MAC is "checking the old mac". I didn’t got to the code yet. How long can that take? What should I do next?
If you're migrating over WiFi I would stop the migration, connect the two Mac via cable (ethernet, USB or whatever works with your two Mac and start the migration again. It will be much faster and more reliable.

Your post is a little difficult to understand because you did not tell us the method you are using to migrate. If it is taking over 4-5 hours it has likely failed. If you want to migrate from your old Mac to a new Mac, please follow the steps in Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant, this works 100% of the time an normally takes less than 2-3 hours.
