Downloading an book to iPod shuffle

I listen to books on my waterproofed iPod shuffle while doing lengths in the pool. I used /Overdrive and local libraries to download books for ten years. However, Overdrive has discontinued this service and I am wondering if it’s possible to download ebooks from another local library that uses the Cloud App to manage its e books. The extra difficulty is that my computer is a PC where overdrive and iTunes worked pretty well once you got the hang of it, but now I am in Limbo. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciated the help.

Hi Ant150,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. While OverDrive might no longer be an options, you can try using their other services that are mentioned in their resource here explaining it: How to transfer audiobooks to an iPod using OverDrive for Windows (desktop)

As of February 23, 2022, OverDrive for Windows (desktop) is no longer available to install. As an alternative, you can borrow and listen to audiobooks using Libby (for libraries), Sora (for schools), or your library's OverDrive website.

Some files you might also be able to transfer using iTunes as you did before if you can find the appropriate files to download: Use iTunes to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer - Apple Support

1. Open iTunes and connect your device to your computer with a USB cable.
2. Click the device icon in the upper-left corner of the iTunes window. Learn what to do if you don't see the icon
The device icon in the upper left corner of the iTunes window.

3. From the list under Settings on the left side of the iTunes window, click the type of content that you want to sync or remove.* To turn syncing on for a content type, select the checkbox next to Sync.
The checkbox next to Sync Music in iTunes.

4. Select the checkbox next to each item that you want to sync.
5. Click the Apply button in the lower-right corner of the window. If syncing doesn't start automatically, click the Sync button.

Best of luck.
