Is it possible to get virus from updating iOS through iTunes on a Windows PC?

Hi,

I’m planning on updating the iOS (to 16.1.1) on my iPhone 14 Pro through my Windows PC using iTunes since many users have said that it is a safer and more successful way to update your iOS.

However, I’m a little hesitant to update my iPhone through iTunes on my Windows PC because I’m afraid that my iPhone might get viruses from my Windows PC.

I mainly use my Windows PC for work and gaming. I never go to malicious sites or download apps from untrusted sources.

Can anyone advise on this? Thanks in advance.

Keep the iPhone updated to the latest iOS always and never Jailbreak. That's it. What process do you use to update iOS is immaterial (iTunes or Over-The-Air) if you update your device will be protected by viruses.

iOS / iPadOS devices cannot be infected with Virus / Malware / Spyware if it is updated to the latest iOS/iPadOS unless you have intentionally downloaded spurious software or unauthorized apps directly from the internet and installed them on your device or/and have Jailbroken.
