I just bought an Apple Watch for my wife and she try the band and doesn’t fit on her wrist

You can return it for a full refund and buy one with a different band that will fit correctly. click here-> Returns & Refunds - Shopping Help - Apple

It has to be the entire watch unfortunately. Then you can buy another one, and select a properly sized band.
