Mail is creating lots of imported mail boxes

Hi,

My Mac - Macbook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)

My mac mail is creating lots of imported mail boxes (1-9) and I have no idea why. This is in the "On My Mac" section.

I'm scared to delete them incase they delete the mail inside.

Import 8 (Screenshot) - has created and duplicated (No Sender) (No subject) emails.

Some mail boxes have the same number of emails, others don't.

Import 7 - If you scroll down to the bottom of the mailbox it will start downloading more mail (50k emails)

Import 9 - has 20k emails.

I deleted my gm

Please help!

Thanks,

Adam

Hello AdamsApplehk,

To start us off, this article explains more about importing mailboxes into Mac Mail: Import or export mailboxes in Mail on Mac - Apple Support. One point from the article: "Mail can import email messages that have been exported in mbox format from other email apps."

Are you using other mail apps or programs on your Mac? We'd advise that you check for that as that may be the source of the emails.

Let us know if we can help with anything else at all or if this doesn't settle your issue so we can look into this further with you. Thanks and have a fabulous day!

I'm not using any other mail apps or programs on Mac, other than Mac Mail.

We do use Daylite, a database for the business, which has a Mail extension. Our email accounts are gmail.

When I login to gmail there are no Imported mailboxes or folders like the ones on my Mac Mail.

I'm not trying to import or export any mail, I'm trying to figure out why my Mac Mail has created "Import 1-9" folders "On My Mac" without my clicking or doing anything specific, that I remember or realise.

Please help more!

Thanks

I tested deleting some emails from the imported mailboxes, the same emails aren't deleted from my Gmail inbox on Mac Mail. They go to a "Bin" folder in the "On my mac" section. I delete from there and doesn't seem to make a difference either to the gmail inbox.

Is there a function that you tick to save all emails on your mac mail directly, so it creates new folders saving those emails perm?
