how to burn blu-ray?

Like most everyone these days I've shared work online. But I've had a request I'd like to answer if I can.

I want to burn a video to blu-ray using my external burner. I used to use Roxio Toast but now I can't see any software available that looks worth trying.

I'd welcome any advice from those still outputting to blu-ray.

The current Toast Titanium 20 can create Blu-ray video disks. It's currently on sale for $59.99. Though you do also need to purchase the separate Blu-ray plugin.

I presume you're using a 25 GB Blu-ray disk. Maybe a dual layer 50 GB disk if you need that much space. It'll burn either, though your drive must support those capacities.

When I test a Blu-ray project, I use rewritable 25 GB disks. These can generally be reliably erased. I have yet to find a 50 GB rewritable disk that doesn't turn into garbage on the second, and sometimes even first attempt to erase it for re-use.

To keep from wasting DVDs when trying something new, I try to use erasable DVD’s. That way if I burn with incorrect settings, I can just erase and try again.

All on the same DVD-RW disk, just be aware that some DVD players won’t read DVD-RW’s.

Regarding the data DVD, rather than video. I remember a setting on the DVD prefs/export that has a setting that allows DVD data or video. Look for the check mark when exporting or burning a DVD. You might try a Dual layer DVD and see if that helps.
