Why does iCloud Drive get such bad reviews in the MS Store on my PC??

iCloud Error / bug "file does not exist" BUT IT DOES! I regularly get errors when trying to open pages / numbers documents that are stored in iCloud. I navigate to them in finder, finder shows correct info, name, size, last modified etc. I double click, it shows it is downloading then the error comes up: "the file does not exist" It clearly exists. When I double click on it again, it will open. It's like a big that numbers / iCloud / MacOs can't wait longer enough for the file to download? (they are not big files!). Any ideas or is it just another example of Apples increasingly bugginess? (yes I pay for extra storage, that is not the issue!). I also get iCloud sharing errors - will post about those separately, though it may be linked?

The never-ending poor UX that is iCloud syncing I guess the very best of services always have something that ranks as its worst feature, and for me that's iCloud syncing in Apple's case. Awesome when it works. Miserably frustrating to fix when it does not. In Finder, I have View _ Show View Options _ Show Status Bar which produces this: Now to me, "uploading 32.869 items" may be read as "thirty two thousand local items are not yet in iCloud". Is this interpretation correct? When logging into icloud.com in my browser, I can see a handful of recent files that are not synced and many that are. Any and all comments most welcome. Thanks in advance for helping me understand.

Why is there a cloud symbol next to my files when the symbol should not be there? There have been previous discussions on this subject. Maybe it is answered somewhere but the answer I read so far was not applicable to my situation. The reason given was: "A cloud by itself just means that the item is only in iCloud, so if you were to disconnect from Wifi and go to your iCloud Drive folder, you would not be able to open any items with a plain cloud next to them" My file definitely is available offline on my local drive, and it is also available in the icloud. To me it seems that it is bug related. I have a completely new laptop pro, I have a 2 TB subscription to icloud of which 1.3 TB is free, and I saved a perfectly legal catalog file on my local drive. Hard to say.

First off … MS users often tend to berate Apple … and vice-versa.

The differences in terminology - often for the same thing - might also be a cause.

Lastly, forums always tend to collect negatives. Few happy and satisfied users post their experiences …

… and when they do, the general lack of responses gives them a short “half life” before they recede into old history.

FWIW, I’ve not had any negative experiences w/ iCloud drive.
