Apple Music replaces old mixes with new once

Many of my favorite old albums have been replaced with new alternative mix versions of the original recordings... I'm fine with alternative mixes as long as the originals are still available. Replacing the originals and banning access to them is like rewriting history and wrong, especially considering that some of the artists are not alive to voice their opinion about it.

Is there any way to access the original mixes, or to ensure that they are not overwritten once downloaded?

Thanks.

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, sha1n,

We understand you're seeing that your old music is being replaced with new versions. We'd be happy to provide information to help you address this.

If these songs are music purchased from the iTunes Store, try redownloading the original songs:

Redownload music - Apple Support

"Redownload music from the iTunes Store in the Apple Music app on your Mac

Before you can redownload music that you purchased from the iTunes Store, you need to authorize your Mac using your Apple ID.

  1. Open the Apple Music app.
  2. From the menu bar at the top of your screen, choose Account > Purchased. If you use Family Sharing, you'll see Family Purchases instead of Purchased.
  3. Find the music that you want to redownload. If you use Family Sharing, choose a family member next to Purchased to see their purchases.
  4. Click the download button Download button next to a song or album.

Don't see the music that you purchased?"

If this doesn't exactly help, please let us know more about what you're seeing when you attempt to redownload the old songs.

Regards.

Thanks, I tried removing and adding the albums with and without downloading them and that's not the issue. I'm sure this is intentional actually... they are simply new mix versions of the same recordings. In some cases radically different...

Here are example albums:

That might be some record company mischief, but this doesn't make me happier. I am a musician myself and I find it outrageous that someone takes the liberty to replace or modify a piece of musical history like that... very disappointing...
