IPad Bootloop. DFU error 4042. [FIXED]

Hi.

I see many users are faced with the same problem I had.

After an update of my iPad 6th gen, my iPad wouldn’t turn on. I tried to restore it and enter the DFU mode. I keep getting a message saying that it couldn't fix the software because of a 4042 error.

This error code wasn’t documented anywhere.

I brought my iPad to an Apple Store. They confirmed that my battery was fine, all my parts were genuine, but couldn’t fix it. It was a hardware issue and they wouldn’t fix it. I had to buy a new unit. Which I eventually did.

But I decided to bring my dead unit to someone who could do micro soldering to investigate further. And he fixed it for 160€.

i ended up having a component on the charging board that was defective.

He also recommended that I stopped leaving the iPad charging all night (which I did almost always) because this was most probably causing this component to die prematurely.

So I wanted to share with you a probable solution for this bootloop and error 4042 during DFU mode since Apple support wasn’t helpful at all.

Since they don’t repair their units they force you to consume more electronic products. Ressources are scarce. Shame on them. Shame on me for falling for it too. Now I have a brand new iPad to sell. I’m keeping the old one.
