Hey realsue,

We'd recommend reviewing the information in this article as it provides your options for recovering deleted messages: Delete and recover messages on your iPhone or iPad

"Retrieve a deleted message or conversation

  1. In Messages, tap Edit.
  2. Tap Show Recently Deleted .
  3. Choose the conversations with the messages you want to restore, then tap Recover.
  4. Tap Recover Message or Recover [Number] Messages.

You need iOS 16, iPadOS 16.1, or later to recover deleted messages and conversations. You can only recover messages and conversations that you deleted within the last 30 to 40 days."

Thanks!

Unfortunately, the information in Delete and recover messages on your iPhone or iPad will not be of any help to you.....since you have an iPhone 6s Plus which does not have the capability to install iOS 16 mentioned in the support document.

Frankly, there is about zero chance that you will be able to recover any deleted messages unless the messages were backed up before they were deleted.....and there have been no other backups since that time. The reason....the next backup after you deleted the messages would pick up that action and delete the messages from the backup.

Unless you know that you deleted the messages today....and another backup has not yet run.....the messages are gone.
