If you want to watch live/linear TV, then an internet streaming TV provider with app for Apple TV can be more economical than cable, but that is not specific to Apple TV alone. If you’re not interested in live/linear TV (cable networks), then individual on-demand streaming services will probably be more economical, but it depends on what you want to watch, and whether your favorite content is spread out over many content providers. Some network TV content is only available through a TV provider, not as a separate stand-alone service subscription.

For streaming TV providers in the US, compare Hulu, YouTube TV, fuboTV, Philo, Sling TV, DirecTV Stream. Most have different channels and packages, so a bit more nuance than just price alone.

Search ‘streaming tv providers comparison’ - Google

Content providers like Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime, are all separate services with separate subscriptions.

It really depends on what you want to watch.
