cannot open itunes in windows XP

I was locked out of my laptop by microsoft when I upgraded to win 10.

My music is still on my old pc running win XP. When I try to open itunes on the old pc I get this error:

E:\Program Files\iTunes\.exe

The specified path does not exist.

check the path, and then try again.

I deleted itunes and did a reinstall. But I get the same message.

I can take files from the old pc and move them as windows files to itunes in a different laptop and they work fine.

Please help.

As written that would be an invalid path. The normal location for the iTunes executable would be C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe. You don't need to open iTunes to transfer the library to your new machine. Copy the entire iTunes folder from <User's Music> on the XP machine into <User's Music> on the Windows 10 box, either using a network share or an external drive. No worries. The system drive in Windows is normally called C: but there are circumstances when a different letter is used. Apple stopped supporting iTunes in Windows XP a number of years ago. Here is a link to the final version should you want to try to reinstall it.

I just know enough to be dangerous so bear with me. There is no C drive in XP at least on this machine just E. I used the link you shared previously to upload this itunes .exe file. When I transfer files to windows 10 their properties change from E to C drive automatically. In any case thank you for the welcome advice.

Don't try to change the system drive letter. That will cause a world of pain if you actually manage to do it.

I did use this link to reinstall itunes. I will move itunes library from the xp pc to the windows 10 laptop. I am curious if changing the system drive name on the xp pc from E to C do me any good?
