Harry Potter "enhanced edition" books won't update on iOS 16; WTF?

As it says on the tin: The Harry Potter "enhanced edition" books keep telling me there's a "new version available" (see image), but it is impossible to download it. When you tap "OK", it brings up the store interface which does not show "Update" as an option; only "Read" (see other image). Deleting and re-downloading does not fix the problem. WTF?

I am on an iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS version 16.1.
