Time Machine no longer backs up my computer

Out of nowhere, a red dot appears on my TM Preferences screen. Then doesn't back up. It's a new 2 TB drive. TM Screen Shows: Oldest Backup: None

Latest Backup: None

Thoughts and thank you in advance.

Click the red dot. What is the specific wording of the dialog that appears?
