MacBook Pro M1 16GB with Ventura 13.0.1: Unable to read some SD Cards

Hello all

Similar to the a former request (New M1 MacBook Pro SD Card Reader creatin… - Apple Community), I am unable to use the internal SD Card reader of my new M1 MacBook Pro. Even after updating to Ventura 13.0.1, the error still persists:

Using finder, I can browse through some of the first files I have on the SD. Rapidly, the performance degrades, and then the system freezes. If I remove the SD Card physically, the system unfreezes again and I am able to continue working on the device.

The error does not occur when using an external SD Card reader connected over USB-C.

The SD cards are mostly of larger size (256GB or 512 GB, V60/U3), but the problem is not bound to certain brands - although I'm mostly using the Sony Tough SD Cards.

Any solutions to that?

Hello all

Update: I realized that when mounting the SD card manually as such

sudo mount -w -t exfat /dev/disk4s1 /Users/this_user/sd_card

the freeze doesn't happen and the speed is absolutely acceptable.

What is less acceptable is that the automount solution from iOS 13.0.1 does not work. It would be a rather easy fix, isn't it? I don't want to manually mount the SD card everytime I use it!

Hello

After I updated to Ventura 13.0.1 I noticed my card reader doesn't work , I need to restart my laptop every time before I insert my SD card in my 14 inch MacBook Pro slot

I'm not a Unix programmer, so I can't read your command as to what it does. Will the command work with my Late 2015 iMac that I am running Monterey 12.6.1 on?
