Yes. There are two ways of lowering the volume of a portion of embedded audio

The first way is to hold down the r key while press dragging the cursor across the portion of the embedded audio in which you want to change the volume. As you drag, a yellow box will appear that expands as you drag to outline the range that you want to change. Working within the box, put your cursor on the horizontal volume line and, while pressing down, move it up or down to change the volume. The changes will be confined to the yellow box.

The second way is to hold down the Option key and click on the horizontal volume line. A dot will appear. Place two dots close together at the in-point where you want to start the decrease or increase in volume. Place two dots at the out-point where you want to end the volume change range. Then, while pressing down with your cursor, pull down or up the horizontal volume line to change the volume between the two sets of dots.
