How to access network drive over VPN using files app on iPad - Content unavailable error

I am currently trying to access my uni’s shared network drives on my iPad Air 5. My uni uses the Cisco AnyConnect VPN App to access the university network. Connecting to the VPN works flawlessly and checking my IP shows that I’m in the university’s network.

Now I am struggling to connect to shared network drives using the files app using the SMB protocol. After activating the VPN connection I am entering the server address (smb://server-ip/folder) and input my login credentials. After hitting connect I can see the folder in the file explorer but when I open it I get the following error message: “Content Unavailable. The folder contents could not be displayed because of an unknown error.”

The above mentioned process works fine using a Mac. I am at a loss as to what is causing this issue. Any helpful advice would be highly appreciated.
