how to clear the red dot next to "get help in an emergency" on my iphone

It sounds like the feature is not setup fully, such as missing an emergency contact. Use the steps here to verify your settings are correct:

"Add emergency contacts

1. Open the Health app and tap your profile picture .
2. Tap Medical ID.
3. Tap Edit, then scroll to Emergency Contacts.
4. Tap the Add button  to add an emergency contact.
5. Tap a contact, then add their relationship.
6. Tap Done to save your changes.

You can't set emergency services as an SOS contact."

Hello SaujsalitoDog, I think, but not positive that in order to clear that 1 badge next to

"Get Help in an Emergency 1 > You need to do the Safety Check. When I updated to the IOS 16 I did the Safety Check on my iPhone 13 Pro Max and have not had this issure. You may want to double check this with Apple Support with a phone call to save you time going to an Apple Store trip. Here is the Apple Support Link in this. Hope this helps.

Thanks for reply. I tried all of these steps...even deleted the existing emergency contact and set a new one.

Did a hard reboot (several times, after trying all new ideas to get rid of the annoying red alert dot) and still no love.

I guess I'm just hoping that an update to iOS 16 will cure it.

Any one else have an idea for solution???

This doesn’t remove the dot or allow me to access the dot. Any other suggestions before I take this phone to the Apple bar?

The red dot is called a “badge”. The number in it indicates how many pending notifications are contained in the app.

Awesome, Lawrence. Do you know how to get access to the badge notification for those of us who can’t click and open it?
