flashing file with question mark on it when turning it on after erasing content.

Tried to erase all content from my MacBook Pro so I could trade it in. I couldn’t use erase assistant so I had to reset, command-r in order to access disk utility. I deleted the volume and now I am getting a flashing question mark symbol on a file every time I try to start in up. What do I do now?

The "flashing question mark" icon means there is no operating system installed. If you just want to trade it in you don't need to reinstall macOS. Just shut it down.
