My mom and I got the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 pro max respectively and they were purchased on her Apple Card with monthly payments. I recently bought the new iPhone 14 pro max on my own and was wondering, do the old phones need to be paid off since we have two months left before I can activate the new iPhone 14 pro max and trade in my iPhone 12 pro-Max?

You can trade-in your iPhone 12 Pro Max at any time, however, you are still responsible to pay off its balance on the Apple Card as scheduled. You said that you have about 2 payments left. Just continue with the payments until the iPhone is paid off. The balance on the rest of the transactions on your card has no effect on the trade-in or the remaining payments.

No they don’t have to be paid off. You can trade in the iPhone 12 Pro Max and Activate your iPhone 14 Pro Max. You will just have to continue paying off the iPhone 12 Pro Max until it is paid off normally.

Thank you for your answer, and I hope it isn't too much trouble to have some follow-up questions. Based on your answer, the 12 pro max can still be paid off through the apple card even though it can be traded in? We do not need to pay the rest of the card as of right now, correct? My thought was that since it isn't fully owned by us, they would not accept the trade-in until the 12 pro max was paid off. Thank you in advance.
