Iphone "Recent Calls"

I think this latest update screwed up my Recent Calls listing.

If I place a call to Mr. X, when I later view it in Recent Calls, it shows the phone # for Mr. X AND the phone # for another person.

THis makes it impossble to place a call using the Recent Calls list, since the phone now tries to dial both numbers.

Hey Bob331,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. It sounds like your contacts have become associated or linked somehow. We'd recommend starting by checking each of these contacts in your Contacts app and make sure all information is correct such as Apple ID, phone numbers, etc. You can edit if needed using the steps below from Edit contacts on iPhone - Apple Support

1. Tap a contact, then tap Edit.
2. Do any of the following:
• Assign a photo to a contact: Tap Add Photo. You can take a photo or add one from the Photos app.
• Add a pronunciation: Tap Edit, scroll down and tap “add field,” select a pronunciation name field, then type how to say your contact’s name. Siri will then use this pronunciation when speaking their name.
• Change a label: Tap the label, then select one in the list, or tap Add Custom Label to create one of your own.
• Add a birthday, social profile, related name, and more: Tap the Add button next to the item.
• Allow calls or texts from a contact to override Do Not Disturb: Tap Ringtone or Text Tone, then turn on Emergency Bypass.
• Add notes: Tap the Notes field.
• Add a prefix, phonetic name, and more: Tap “add field,” then select an item in the list.
• Delete contact information: Tap the Delete button next to a field.
3. When you’re finished, tap Done.

These contacts may also be linked. You can find and unlink them if so, similarly to linking them as mentioned in Get rid of duplicate contacts on iPhone - Apple Support. Just go to Contacts, select one of the contacts, then Edit, then find the linked contact if any and unlink. We hope that helps.

Best of luck.

Thank you, but I just cannot do this with hundreds of contacts.

This happened immediately with the recent IOS upgrade.

I had a very pleasant conversation with an Apple support person, who told me that my problem was not unique and that Apple was aware of the problem. Supposedly they are working on a patch but I have not seeing anything yet.
