File App “Authentication requirement error” when Privacy Screen is turned off on Google Drive

My Files App has Google Drive on the Sidebar. I used to be able to grab documents from Downloads/iCloud/Recents and drop them into Google Drive, however, now I am receiving the “Authentication Requirement” error. I went to Google Drive App>Settings>Privacy Screen and confirmed it is OFF. This is an error that I’ve had to resolve before in the past using that technique, but now it is still not working.

I have checked for app updates on both Google Drive and Files app, there are none. Any suggestions?

Hello Ellebee8,

Adding a cloud storage service provides you with access your files stored with this service in the native Files app on your iPad. Connect external devices or servers with Files on iPad has that information and more.

Supported steps to add files to Google Drive from your iPad can be found in Upload files and folders to Google Drive - iPhone & iPad. As mentioned, you'll want to use their Google Drive app to accomplish this.

"Upload & view files

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Drive app.
  2. Tap Add.
  3. Tap Upload.
  4. Find and tap the files you want to upload."

If the ability to upload files to Google Drive within the Files app has changed recently, we'd recommend sharing that feedback with the service and app developer directly. How to contact an app developer

Take care.
